Start A Candle Business

So was I …
I never was what you might call a “candle freak”. Then back in 2001 a couple of guys I know started a new candle company out in Wilkes Barre PA. I ordered a case of Scented Candles, tried a few, and we’ve been burning them in our house ever since.
After burning a few of these unique soy blend candles, giving a few away, and even making a couple of sales, I knew it was time to look into joining the Candle of the Month Club and becoming a distributor. Since then this business has traveled with me literally all over the world (I was stationed in Korea, and deployed to Iraq). Through it all, I’ve had many happy customers, met some really cool business partners, and basically just had FuN earning extra money to help my family live a little better life.
Speaking of family, I currently live in Ewa Beach Hawaii with my wife Ana and the 5 kids we have between us. My “real” job is forecasting the weather for the U.S. Air Force. It’s been good to me, but I’m really looking forward to retiring in a couple of years.
Which is where this candle business really comes in …
For military people in particular (and all of us in general) it’s important to have a “Plan B” for retirement. My dad was also in the Air Force, and retired after 24 years. He started working at the Post Office shortly after retirement, and basically had a whole second career. I would prefer not to have to work full-time again after I’m done in the Air Force. Because I’ve been building a part-time candle business for the past few years, that “dream” is now looking like a real possibility. 
Over the years, I’ve found this business to be:
- Fun
- Flexible
- Simple
- Profitable
